    Description

Heavy solid brass frireplace tool set with wall hanging brackets.  Four tools with four solid brass hanging cleats found mounted to wood board.  I bought these a couple years ago from an antique dealer here in Western NY, his story was that they were custom made in Denmark for the owner of a Roycroft bungalow in East Aurora, perhaps 1970s vintage.  I have no idea of the veracity of the story.  I've done a lot of searching and can find nothing else like them and they do have a rough hand forged/hand made feeling about them.  We bought them to use because of their obvious quality, have since moved on to a smaller scale set that better fits our modest wood burning insert.  These were designed for a good sized fireplace.
The length of each tool varies, three pieces measure a little under 29" long, one piece (the coal rake/scraper) is about 27.5" long.  This piece also has a different handle style though it seems to be made in the same fashion as the others, the set matches well and was found together.   The tools vary in weight from about 2-1/2 lbs to 3-1/2 lbs each, overall weight of set before packing is just under18 lbs.  Tool handles and ends unscrew from solid brass shafts to a managable size.  Will ship disassembeled, likely in two boxes.
Condition is very good.  Tools show wear and soiling from normal fireplace use, I'm sure these would shine up if one wanted to clean them, I think they look great as is. Pictures should tell the story. Wood mounting board shows a little wear and some minor overpaint at edges.  Cleats could be removed and mounted directly to wall if desired.
